HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR

This is where I will update you with the major topics that each grade level is studying. I wil also post about upcoming projects and special events in Spanish class! (newest posts will be on top)

02/05- Second through fifth grade are learning how to write the complete date using days, numbers, months, and the year! They can also discuss how old they are in Spanish and when their birthday is. To end the unit on learning the date, they will be completing their first project- El Calendario. The students are making a phrase-a-day Spanish calendar for one month!

Kindergarten and 1st grade are learning the days, shapes, and months! They are completing a year long calendar to encompass their knowledge of colors, months, and numbers!

12/16- This week Kindergarten and 1st grade will be learning numbers, while the 2nd-5th grade students are learning days of the week! Check out my links and vocabulary for details. (some classes are not this far along due to track out.)

Culture   day-  Culture day will happen several times throughout the year as a way to expose the students to different spanish speaking cultures around the world. Each culture day will be centered around a different country. This allows them to learn about cultural diversity as well as the usefulness of Spanish around the globe. Our current Culture Day will be about COSTA RICA! We will be embracing the phrase "La Pura Vida", that originated in the beautiful land of Costa Rica.
